What do I eat?

I thought I would post my typical lunch. What do you guys do for lunch. Some of you get to stay home for lunch, but I still want to know. I have been "brown bagging" it for a while. It saves me a ton of money. I don't get how people can eat out everyday. I think I make ok money and I know I would be broke. Also talk about super fattening.
So I eat a salad pretty much most days. Its easy, tasty, and quick. I try to make them before I go to bed so I am not late in the mornings, but I usually am late anyway. So I love spinach. I think spinach is an acquired taste? I used to hate it. Then I throw on some garbanzo beans. It doesn't matter if I am having sweet salad or a salty salad I always use garbanzo beans. I gotta get my protein in right? I also always have almonds, sunflower seeds, and flax seeds. Then depending on what kind of veggies or fruit I have, I throw that on too. I top it off with my organic vegan dressing I found at Freddy's.

So I eat my puffins at around 6:45am or so....depending on how late I am. And then I eat usually my soygurt at about 10:00am and usually a banana. By about 12:30ish I eat my salad and then I eat my clif bar at 3:00ish. That way when I get home I am not so hungry that I eat myself out of house and home. Yum! I am jealous of my own self. My sister would take one look at this and want to vomit. She still thinks taco bell is a food group.

Also I am posting a picture of this here and on my other blog. BFFH showed me this awesome website called. Bountiful Baskets. Seriously guys I am in love! Look at all the stuff you get for 15 bucks. Awesome right? Anyway check it out. It makes me love BFFH even more because she just gets me. I am so excited for my next one!

  1. My lunches are often a salad. I make up a big salad and eat on it for a few days. I like to add all veggies (I never put in fruit) Also some fun additions are kidney beans, beats, and something crunchy (like chinese noodles, or goldfish crackers) that is my favorite part. If I don't have salad I usually have a veggie cup (cut up veggies with dip). I also eat leftovers from the night before or just take a can of soup. I canned some veggie soup this year with myy garden veggies, that is always fun. I know that lots of people eat sandwiches, but I am not a big fan. If I do I eat peanut butter and jelly or tuna, but not often. Oh, my favorite snacks are apple with peanut butter, ranch rice cakes and trail mix.

  2. (SILD) I usually do leftovers if there are any left . . . Lately I've been going home on M,W,F to eat with my boys and thats nice cuz i eat better there. Summertime is harder for leftovers cuz I usually give them to Keli so he doesn't have to do sandwiches again. I still don't know how he stomaches them after 14 years . . . . I don't mind them, but everyday - i feel for him! Back to my point, summertime I will go next door to Daves and they have these pre-made Chef, Crab or Garden Salads that are pretty darn good and I get the low fat Italian dressing.

  3. Mac and cheese, pb sandwiches, leftovers, turkey sandwich, grilled cheese, quesadillas. Basically, I eat whatever the kids are having except I can't stomach Ramen Noodles very often. I don't think any of that is healthy, but I do love turkey sandwiches with lettuce and the whip (that's miracle whip). I used to have a bite of Pam's when she would have them for lunch at school - she was nice, I don't think I would let people take bites out of my food, okay well now that I am a mom I pretty much share everything so scratch that.

Anyway, for snacks I look for chocolate that I've hidden or we have apples and oranges or I whip up some cookies after dinner. Luckily my 2 little kids are scrawny and they are on a "power packing" diet. They get extra butter, ranch, peanut butter, and ice cream for extra calories and the paper says that I should eat that way too ;) Katie, did you try that dressing yet - the mustard one?

Anyway, I know that we don't eat especially healthy, but my kids love corn, green beans, broccoli, carrots and other veggies so that it awesome.

Oh and Katie's SILD - you should get the scone with honey butter at Dave's - I crave those things. And they are healthy, deep fried and buttery, yum!
